WELCOME TO ĀRSHA VIDYĀ ASHRAM – LE PORT, REUNION ISLAND

Ārsha Vidyā Āshram is a center devoted to the teaching of Hinduism (traditionally known as Sanātana Dharma) and to the transmission of Indian culture. Its main focus is the teaching of Vedānta, the spiritual philosophy rooted in the Vedas, the sacred texts of Hinduism. The ashram and its activities are overseen by the association Shruti Seva Réunion.

Mahā Samprokṣaṇam - 10 to 13 September 2026

The Ārsha Vidyā Āshram in Le Port (Reunion island) is pleased to invite you to the Mahā Samprokṣaṇam ceremonies, which will take place from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 September 2026.

The Mahā Samprokṣaṇam marks an important moment in the life of the Āshram. Over four days, a series of traditional ceremonies will be performed, including pūjās, homams, purification rites, the preparation of the kumbhams, and consecration rituals.

Beyond the richness of the rituals, the Mahā Samprokṣaṇam is an act of recognition, consecration and renewal. It restores the temple as a consecrated place, places this renewal within the continuity of the spiritual life and teaching of the Āshram, and renews the community’s connection with the temple and the divine presence.

The morning of Sunday 13 September, from 6:00 am, will mark the culmination of these four days, with the Kumbha yātrā, the Vimāna Mahā Kumbhābhiṣekam, and the Mahā Kumbhābhiṣekam.

All are welcome to attend these ceremonies and share this important moment in the life of the Āshram.

Mahā Samprokṣaṇam - Call for Donations

On September 13, 2026, Ārsha Vidyā Āshram du Port will celebrate the Mahā Samprokṣaṇam, the great temple consecration ceremony traditionally held every 12 years.

In order for this sacred celebration to take place, preparations must begin now:

🔧 A complete renovation of the temple is required

🌸 Ritual ingredients and materials must be brought from India

We are therefore launching a call for donations and warmly invite you to support this project.

THE ASHRAM

Founded by Swāmi Advayānanda Sarasvatī, the Ārsha Vidyā Āshram in Le Port was consecrated in 1994 by Pūjya Swāmī Dayānanda Sarasvatī. The ashram includes two classrooms, a hall (maṇḍapa), and two shrines. One is dedicated to Shrī Vara Siddhi Jñāna Gaṇapati and the other to Shrī Medhā Dakṣiṇāmūrti. These shrines were inaugurated during a Mahā Kumbhābhiṣekam in 2002. The ashram also features a large garden that includes many rare and endemic plant species from Reunion Island.

OUR ACTIVITIES

The ashram offers a wide range of activities open to everyone. It provides spiritual teachings, as well as yoga classes and language courses (Sanskrit and Tamil).

These activities are offered in various formats, including regular classes, lectures, workshops, and spiritual retreats.

The ashram is also a place for prayer and meditation. Major Hindu festivals are celebrated here throughout the year.
